Philly Student Union Turns 30!
Celebrate the legacy—and fund the future.
For 30 years, Philly Student Union has been a force for justice, building youth power and transforming public education in Philadelphia. What began as a bold leap by a group of students in 1995 has grown into a movement that has changed lives, shaped policy, and empowered generations.
Now, in the face of deep challenges—school closures, defunding, and a city at a crossroads—we are being called to rise. This year, we mark our historic anniversary with a rallying cry.

Fueling Student Power
-
Student power is real, not decorative or symbolic. Student government in schools is service. Student power is collective action for change.

It means that kids have a meaningful and developmentally appropriate seat at the table in decisions that affect them, and that their rights and responsibilities are centered in those decisions by adults whose responsibility it is to care for those kids until they can care for themselves independently.

Power is feeling energy and hope to make the change we really want and then having community support to make it happen.
